The piece
A true black mirror, cut from Michoacán obsidian and polished across eleven grits until the surface stops being a stone and becomes a doorway. Set in a hand-turned walnut frame with a brass hanging ring. Each mirror is dark-charged through a full lunar cycle before dispatch.
In brief
- Genuine Mexican volcanic obsidian, 8 mm thick
- Eleven-stage hand polish — no resin, no coating
- Hand-turned walnut frame, brass ring, felt backing
- Dark-charged across one complete lunar cycle
- Ships with a linen wrap and a scrying primer booklet
Practice
First working
Do not begin in darkness. Sit at dusk, one candle behind your right shoulder so no flame is reflected in the glass. Hold a soft focus for eleven minutes without seeking. The mirror clouds before it clears — this is the eye adjusting, not the stone performing.

Genuinely still
Verified purchaseI have owned three black mirrors and returned two. This one has no distortion at the edges at all. The walnut frame is beautiful in candlelight.

Worth the wait
Verified purchaseTook three weeks because of the lunar charging window, and it arrived wrapped like a relic. No complaints.

Beautiful, heavy
Verified purchaseThe 30 cm is much heavier than I expected — use a proper wall fixing. Otherwise flawless.
